How to Stop a Stolen Election

Its clear that Trump believed he could suppress voting by kneecapping the Post Office. But Democrats must realize that he can be stopped by three fairly simple moves that they can control.

First, the Post Office must restore all mail processing capacity, meaning both machine infrastucture and the necessary human overtime needed to deal with the surge of mail in ballots. The ability to handle 100 million Mail in ballots is not an issue as the Atlantic points out: “The Postal Service processes nearly 500 million pieces of mail every day, and it annually handles more than 3 billion pieces in the week before Christmas alone.” It appears that Democratic moves to bring the Postmaster General to testify have started this process in motion. But lawmakers must assure us that the mail sorting machines already taken out of service are returned to service.

Second, Democrats need to counter the misinformation being put out that the November vote will be a mess because of absentee balloting. The notion the Trump is promulgating that the election might not be decided for two weeks is total nonsense. But the slow reporting problems in the New York Primary that Trump cites stem from an old state law that won’t allow even the processing of mail in ballots until election day. Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and North Carolina all have these same laws. In most…
